American actor Hugh Franklin played many character roles on stage, but he also appeared in a television soap opera and a TV movie The Borgia Stick. He also made a couple of feature films in the 1960s. In the middle of his stage career, Franklin retired and spent a decade running a small grocery store. Later he returned to the stage.
