A chance encounter with a production company that was filming Broadway shows for the Lincoln Center library archives led Peter Giuliano into a successful career as a respected executive producer. In that capacity, he has worked with director Barry Levinson on several major projects, including Sleepers (1996). Brooklyn native Giuliano's fateful meeting occurred after he'd returned from an Army stint in Panama. The encounter resulted in his getting a job as a cameraman's assistant. This, in turn, led him to help create some of the sketch comedy television series Saturday Night Live's memorable commercial parodies of the 1976-1977 season. Though he quit the show full-time after that, Giuliano did return to make three specials for SNL. After that, he focused on helping to produce television commercials in the U.S. and Europe. He made his debut as a producer in reproducing Jean Cocteau's play The Human Voice, starring Liv Ullmann, for PBS. Giuliano began an association with Ivan Reitman as a first assistant director on Ghostbusters (1984) that continued through Dave (1996). Giulano first functioned as an executive producer in 1994.
