A veteran stunt man, Hugh Hooker also did the occasional bit part, such as a bellboy in Dead Reckoning (1947) and an outlaw in The Bandit Queen (1950). The following year, he starred in a failed television pilot which was eventually released theatrically as The Adventures of the Texas Kid (1954). Conceived by veteran B-Western entrepreneur Robert Emmett Tansey, the lackluster oater also featured silent screen stars Monte Blue and James Kirkwood. Hooker stuck mostly to stunt work thereafter and also produced a couple of B-movies: The Littlest Hobo (1958) and The Devil's Partner (1962). He was the father of stunt performers Buddy Joe Hooker and Billy Hank Hooker.
