Fans of HBO’s highly-rated hit, “Entourage” (2005- ) learned in the series’ third season that the only person in Hollywood who was able to rattle the cage of uber-agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) was his formidable wife, known only as Mrs. Ari, and played with a great deal of verve and comic timing by actress Perrey Reeves. The New York-born actress, who had over a decade of credits in stage, film, and television to her name, was suggested to the show’s producers by Piven after they co-starred together in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” (2005). Reeves not only made the role her own, but proved herself a bonafide scene-stealer and more than a match for Piven’s high-intensity performance.

Born in New York City, NY (Reeves prefers to not give the date or year), the actress was raised in New Hampshire in a family of academics, who encouraged her to explore and develop her own interest in studies. Reeves pursued her education both in the United States and abroad, and found her true calling in acting. She began landing roles in the early ‘80s on television, and quickly graduated to feature films by the start of the ‘90s with a supporting role in the horror cheapie “Child’s Play 3” (1991).

Back-to-back appearances on two series starring her then-paramour David Duchovny came a few years later with spots on “Red Shoe Diaries” (Showtime, 1992-99) and his massive hit show, “The X-Files” (Fox, 1993-2002). The two were an item from 1993-95. Following her break-up with the actor, Reeves landed appearances in a handful of mid-level indies such as “Smoke Signals” (1998) and “The Suburbans” (1999) before scoring her biggest exposure to date as Will Ferrell’s long-suffering wife who yearns for the pleasures of suburbia in “Old School” (2003). A recurring role on the ill-fated Rob Lowe legal drama “The Lyon’s Den” (NBC, 2003-2004) followed, as well as her pivotal role in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” in which she played one of Angelina Jolie’s “associates” (alongside Michelle Monaghan and Jennifer Morrison of “House”).

At the time of the show’s second season, the character of Mrs. Ari was no more than a punchline on “Entourage.” But with Piven’s recommendation, Reeves was brought in and fleshed out the character for the producers, helping jettison the initial suggestion of Mrs. Ari as a “doormat” in favor of a brassy but sophisticated woman who cares deeply for her manic husband, yet retains a degree of the entitlement that comes with being a former actress and the child of wealthy parents. The clash between these two oversized egos – both with their own interests at heart and those involving their marriage – as well as the scenes in which they express genuine affection for one another, gave the often shallow boys’ club aspects of “Entourage” a sense of humanity and honesty of character.

An avid yoga enthusiast, Reeve split her time between shooting in Los Angeles and living in Costa Rica, where she resides with her fiancé at a yoga retreat built by the couple. The solar-powered retreat, which preserved much of the jungle on which it is situated, reflected the actress’ commitment to physical and mental well-being, which included a vegetarian lifestyle, work with the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and a passion for meditation.
