Between 1983 and 1984, he had a regular role as a blind bluesman on the television series Boone. He made his final film appearance in To Sleep With Anger. In addition to acting, Roberts served as an advisor for the Western division of the Actor's Equity Association. He also founded the Beverly Hills-Hollywood NAACP Image Award.
