An above-average leading man frequently trapped in below-average material, Gregory Walcott entered films in 1952, playing a tiny part in Above and Beyond. Often cast in military roles, Walcott was seen in such World War II dramas as Battle Cry (1955), Mister Roberts (1955) and The Outsider (1961). In 1967, he both produced and starred in Bill Wallace of China, the story of a real-life missionary doctor. On television, Walcott played detective Roger Havilland in the weekly cop series 87th Precinct. Gregory Walcott's role as "potential backer" in the 1994 biopic Ed Wood was an inside joke; as any aficionado of bad movies will tell you, it was Walcott's "distinction" to play the male lead in the real Ed Wood's legendary stinker Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959). Aside from his film career Walcott was also a Baptist lay minister.
