In 1974, made Broadway debut in the musical production Over There!

Breakout sitcom role was Elaine Nardo on the popular sitcom Taxi (1978-1983).

Hosted short-lived, syndicated talk show in 1994, titled Marilu. That same year, she and Jim Jerome penned her autobiography By All Means Keep on Moving.

A proponent of healthy living and good parenting, Henner has authored several books on the subjects: Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover (1998); The 30-Day Total Health Makeover (1999)
