She went on to play a variety of disapproving in-laws, landladies, and housekeepers; one of her last assignments was as Mrs. Hudson in the 1976 Sherlock Holmes opus The Seven Per Cent Solution. Alison Leggatt also appeared in such well-distributed 1970's TV productions as The Edwardians.
