A leading contemporary composer who began his career scoring low-budget films and worked on the TV series "CHiPS", Alan Silvestri graduated to prestigious Hollywood productions including the Robert Zemeckis films "Romancing the Stone" (1984), "Back to the Future" (1985) and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988). He earned an Oscar nomination for his stirring underscore for Zemeckis' blockbuster "Forrest Gump" (1994) and has continued his association with the director through 2000, working on both the thriller "What Lies Beneath" and the adventure story "Cast Away". Silvestri subsequently scored "The Mexican" and "The Mummy Returns" (both 2001).
