A film editor, producer, and director whose work on such films as The Wild Bunch (1969), Brewster McCloud (1970), and Moonstruck (1987) found him working with some of Hollywood's most prolific directors, Lou Lombardo's four-decade career in the film industry found the talented editor dabbling in numerous areas of film production. Beginning his career as an assistant to the producers in 1957's The James Dean Story, the burgeoning cameraman began his career as an editor on television's Felony Squad before moving on to features with The Name of the Game Is Kill (1968). Working consistently from the early '70s on, Lombardo would move on to producer with the 1975 feature The Black Bird, and director with that same year's Russian Roulette. After suffering a stroke in 1991, Lombardo remained in a coma until his death at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA, in early May 2002. He was 70.
