Only a year after passing the New York Bar Exams, practicing attorney Daniel Taradash won a national play writing contest and abruptly decided to change careers. As a screenwriter, Taradash worked alone or in collaboration. He is particularly noted for his adaptation of literature. In 1953, he won an Oscar for the screenplay for From Here to Eternity. He tried his hand at directing in 1956 with Storm Center. The film was not a hit and Taradash continued his writing career.
