American actress Dorothy Phillips played leads in numerous Hollywood silent films and was once known as "the Kid Nazimova" because she was so good at imitating the star. Phillips was born Dorothy Gwendolyn Strible in Baltimore. She frequently worked in films directed by her husband, Alan Holubar. After the mid-'20s, her film appearances became sporadic and considerably smaller.
