An impressive young actor who has been before the cameras since he was just a baby, Miko Hughes proved to be a scene stealer from his first major film role as the back-from-the-grave toddler in "Pet Semetary" (1989). Of Native American descent (half-Chickasaw), he was a precocious child whose parents (his father John has spent over two decades in the film industry as a special effects technician) decided to submit him for modeling jobs, Almost immediately, the cute tyke won roles in a public service announcement and TV commercials. Numerous guest roles, primarily in sitcoms followed, including recurring parts on ABC's "Full House" and The WB's "The Parent 'Hood". After his auspicious film debut, he all but stole "Kindergarten Cop" (1990) from Arnold Schwarzenegger and went on to play Danny De Vito's son in "Jack the Bear" (1993) and Chevy Chase's kid in "Cops and Robbersons" (1994). In "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" (also 1994), Hughes was cast as the onscreen son of Heather Langenkamp in that reflexive take on the "Nightmare From Elm Street" series. He has twice played the child of actress Kathleen Quinlan, in "Apollo 13" (1995) and "Zeus and Roxanne" (1997). Hughes had his biggest screen role to date as an autistic youth who cracks a government code and finds his life endangered in the thriller "Mercury Rising" (1998).
