In 1959 he began a productive collaboration with director Blake Edwards, lensing his "Perfect Furlough" (1959) and six other features including "Experiment in Terror", "Days of Wine and Roses" (both 1962), "The Pink Panther" (1964) and "Gunn" (1967). Lathrop also shot Edwards's TV series "Peter Gunn" and "Mr. Lucky". The two-time Oscar nominee won Emmy awards for "Malice in Wonderland" (1984) and "Christmas Snow" (1985).
