Argentine actor of television, stage, and screen Julio de Grazia was one of his country's more versatile performers having proven himself adept in genres ranging from high drama to broad comedy. In film, he debuted as an extra in Torre Nilsson's Dias de Odio (1953). Though he appeared in a number of films as a leading and supporting player, de Grazia did not gain much international recognition until the '80s when Argentina's cinema developed a worldwide reputation for innovation and excellence. Some of his best-known films include the noirish La Parte del Leon (The Lion's Share) (1978) and Hector Olivera's Funny, Dirty Little War (1985). De Grazia also directed occasionally. In this capacity, his best known are the comedies Los Superagentes No Se Rompen (1978) and Susan Quiere, El Negro Tambien (1985). De Grazia died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
