Nuytten learned his craft with distinguished lighting directors Ghislain Cloquet and Ricardo Aronovich. In 1988, he wowed the world with his auspicious directorial debut, Camille Claudel, a film that earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film and five Césars.
