Andrew Cruickshank generally played supporting roles in British films and television programs. He also appeared frequently in theatrical productions beginning in the late '20s. He made his first film appearance in 1937 playing Robert Burns in Auld Lang Syne. In films, Cruickshank was typically cast as a doctor or judge. His best-known role was that of a British country doctor on the TV series Dr. Finlay's Casebook.
