Forayed into pop music during the 1980s, collaborating with famed arranger Nelson Riddle on three albums:

What's New
(1983) and
For Sentimental Reasons
(1986).
Attributed problems with her weight over the years to a thyroid disease she suffers from called Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Collaborated with singers Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton on the 1987 album
Trio.
