When he became an '80s heartthrob playing a music-loving, dancing high-schooler in Footloose, no one could have predicted that this cute actor with the ski-jump nose would grow into a reliable and versatile supporting player. After a series of big-screen duds, his leading-man status waned, but nuanced character performances in blockbusters such as Apollo 13 and Mystic River kept him working with no lulls. A down-to-earth family man (his wife is actress Kyra Sedgwick), Bacon makes his home on the East Coast as opposed to Hollywood and plays in a band with his brother.
