Breakout TV-movie role was in 1977's Christmas in Caulfield, USA.
Met first husband, Bo Brinkman, on a blind date and married him within two months.
In 1985, became one of the youngest actresses to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Moved to Manhattan in 1987 and landed the lead role in an off-Broadway production A Shayna Maidel and walked away with the 1988 Theatre World Award for her performance.
Introduced to husband Bruce Boxleitner by his fomer wife, actress Kathryn Holcomb.
Inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK, in 1998 for her contribution to the TV industry.
In 2001, became the third woman to serve as the President of the Screen Actors Guild.
