Muriel Baker was a script girl for Anthony Asquith in the late 1920s. In 1935 she wrote her first script (Alibi Inn), and married Sydney Box. The two wrote numerous plays in the late '30s, and Sydney Box produced government propaganada and training films during World War Two. In 1945 he produced The Seventh Veil, which they'd scripted, launching a series of films, including two which she co-produced, The Man Within (aka The Smugglers) and Dear Murderer. Their other script collaborations include The Girl in the Painting and Christopher Columbus. In 1952 Box began directing with The Happy Family (Mr. Lord Says No!); her other films include the remake The Beachcomber, the comedy The Passionate Stranger (A Novel Affair), which she co-scripted, and the multi-episode The Truth About Women, which she also produced. Muriel and Sydney Box were divorced in 1969.
