Expand Full Bio
American actress Diana Barrymore had a troubled life, and unlike many of her illustrious family members was unable to make much of a mark in the entertainment world. The daughter of John Barrymore and Michael Strange, Diana was educated in France and the U.S. and later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After appearing on stage for four years, she made her film debut in 1942. In 1955, after a long battle with alcoholism and severe depression, she committed herself to a sanitarium in New York for one year. After time there, she returned to the theater. In 1957, she published her autobiography Too Much, Too Soon, which was adapted into a film the following year and starred Errol Flynn as her father.
