MacPhail's war-time efforts included a brace of Will Hay comedies and the somewhat more sober The Foreman Went to France (1942) and Went the Day Well? (1943). His later projects ranged from the British omnibus feature Dead of Night (1945) to the American Hitchcock production The Wrong Man (1957). Angus MacPhail also served as producer of 1933's Cuckoo in the Nest.
