Roger Webb

A renowned songwriter, musical arranger, and composer, Roger Webb established himself by performing with such musical legends as Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey before segueing into film work with scores for 1969's One Brief Summer and the following year's Bartleby. Born in Bristol, England, Webb also composed music for numerous stage productions, including Beryl Reid's A Little on the Side and the children's theater production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Later forming the jazzy Roger Webb Trio, the band performed both original songs and updates of popular mainstays. Later film compositions included Madame Claude 2 (1982) and The Boy in Blue (1986). In December 2002, Roger Webb died of a brain tumor in London. He was 68.
