Dancer Alex Mazo moved to America from Russia with his family when he was 12 years old. His mother ran a dance studio, and today Alec runs two ballroom dance schools - one in San Francisco Bay Area and another in Los Angeles, CA. Among his personal accomplishments were winning the Emerald Ball Latin Amateur Champion, 1st Place in the 2001 International Grand Ball (San Francisco), 1st Place in the 2001 Holiday Ball (Las Vegas, NV) and was the 6 times US National Finalist for Latin Amateur. During his "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ) tenure, Mazo won season one with actress Kelly Monaco. He partnered with former model Paulina Porizkova in season four and were the first couple eliminated, placing 11th. In season five, Mazo was coupled with model/actress Josie Maran and they were both unfortunately cut in the first week.
