Mississippi native Tarra Riggs became well known to audiences when she was cast as the character of Marlee in the 2008 drama Ballast, which generated tremendous buzz at the Sundance Film Festival and earned the actress an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Later that same year, she completed filming on Hurricane Season, a drama set against the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina starring Forest Whitaker and Isaiah Washington.
