A dark-haired stage actor from England, Edward Coxen (sometimes his first name is given as Edwin) began his American screen career in 1912 as a leading man to Winifred Greenwood at the American Company in Santa Barbara, CA. Dropping Edward in favor of plain Ed, Coxen entered the 1920s as a supporting player, usually cast as unscrupulous characters. He remained in Hollywood through the 1930s, often supporting B-Western star Ken Maynard. In his final years, Coxen was reduced to working as a dress extra.
