Péter Gothár

Hungarian filmmaker Péter Gothár launched his career on television in 1968 as an assistant director, and in 1975 he began directing documentaries and television plays. Between 1971 and 1975, Gothár studied film direction at the Academy of Theater and Film Art. While there he was mentored by filmmaker Karoly Makk. Gothár made his feature-film debut in 1979 with Ajándék ez a Nap/A Priceless Day, which he also scripted. In 1985, he received the Best Director Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival for Megáll az Idö and in 1996 received an award in the same category from the Hungarian Film Week Year Result Award for Haggyállógva Vászka/Letgovang Vaska: A Tale From the Lager.
