Dick Grayson, "youthful ward of millionaire Bruce Wayne") on the not-for-children-only camp extravaganza, "Batman" (ABC, 1966-68). Celebrated in some quarters and quite popular for a brief period, "Batman" somewhat handicapped both Ward and co-star Adam West, whose tongue-in-cheek playing was not appreciated by all viewers and subsequently made them difficult to cast. Ward disappeared from the acting scene for some time after the cancellation of the show and resurfaced in executive positions with several entertainment-related companies, notably in the children's educational video market. In the late 1980s, Ward also began reappearing on the silver screen in a number of mostly forgettable low-budget efforts.
