Began designing costumes for film and TV in the mid-1970s. Paredes was able to exercise a flair for slinky and fantastic fashion in the lush TV miniseries "Scruples" (1980), the remake of "Cat People" (1982), and the adventure fantasy "Ice Pirates" (1984).
