While often cast as the ditzy pretty blonde in film and television, Teri Garr was no joke of an actress. She was one of Hollywood’s most-recognized leading ladies who switched from dramatic to comedic roles without missing a beat, starring in many memorable movies, including “Young Frankenstein” (1974), “Oh God!” (1977) and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (1977). Garr also earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1982 for playing the role of Dustin Hoffman’s actress girlfriend in “Tootsie” (1982)....
