Full Biography (Back to top)

This former assistant to John Boorman, whom he met through his father, has been, since the early 1970s, associated with Blake Edwards, serving as producer or executive producer on Edwards' films and TV productions, including most of the "Pink Panther" sequels, "10" (1980), "S.O.B" (1981) and "Victor/Victoria" (1982). He has also been involved with Julie Andrews' concert tours and TV specials.

Tony Adams reportedly first became associated with Edwards and Andrews in the mid-70s as an assistant on "The Tamarind Seed" (1974), with duties that included driving the couple around London. He first earned associate producer status on "Return of the Pink Panther" (1975) and was promoted to executive producer on "Revenge of the Pink Panther" (1978). Adams' first full-fledged producer credit came with the male menopausal "10" and he was at Edwards' side with "Victor/Victoria" as well. While these were box-office successes, Adams also worked with the writer-director on such lesser efforts as "That's Life!" (1986), about male mid-life crisis, and "Switch" (1991), in which a man wakes up one day as a woman. He also produced the last "Pink Panther" sequel, "Blake Edwards' Son of the Pink Panther" (1993).

In 1988, Adams became president of Blake Edwards Entertainment and had his first initiation into TV films producing "Justin Case" (ABC, 1988), a "Disney Sunday Movie" about the ghost of a private investigator come back to work with a kid. The following year, he was executive producer of "Peter Gunn", an ABC TV-movie revising the 50s series that had established Edwards. More recently, Adams was executive producer of "Julie Andrews: Back on Broadway" for PBS' "Great Performances" and was one of the producers of Andrews' Broadway return in the stage version of "Victor/Victoria". Additionally, Adams produced Andrews' 1980 album, "Julie Andrews Live in Concert". In all, with features, TV, concerts and stage, he has collaborated with Edwards over two dozen times and with Andrews more than 10 times.
