November: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
When: Nov. 21
Who: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent; directed by David Yates
What: As Harry Potter begins his sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, war is brewing. But then Harry discovers an old book marked mysteriously "This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince" and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort's dark past.
Brian Says: As one of the universe’s few remaining non-Potterphiles, I’m really only excited for Half-Blood Prince vicariously--for and through other people’s excitement. And to see whether Radcliffe, Watson and Grint can stay out of rehab once the series ends, what with big-screen success at a young age and all.
Kit Says: As one of the universe’s top Potterphiles, on the other hand, I’m beyond excited--and a little sad. Excited because the movies have not yet disappointed me as a fan of the books. Yates proved he could handle the material, having helmed the most wordy of the Potter books The Order of the Phoenix, so my faith in him for Half-Blood Prince is tantamount. I’m sad because it’s almost over. Even though I’ve read the seventh and final book last summer and know what happens to the characters, I still cherish the movies. There’s only one more to go after Half-Blood Prince and then--nothing. Just the collection of DVDs I have to pull out every so often and re-watch over a weekend. Sigh.
