Scoop: The true story of Ernie Davis (Darrin Dewitt Henson), two-time All-American running back for Syracuse University who led his team to the national championship in 1960. In 1961, he became the first black man to win the Heisman Trophy. Later that year, he was the first pick in the NFL draft. But Davis never got the chance to play professional football; he was diagnosed with leukemia during the summer of 1962 and died nearly a year later.
If a Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words, We Say: We know that coach/player huddle all too well. Inevitably sad but inspiring, our bet is that this Quaid/Henson period sports biopic, about a Heisman winner--who deserved more time in the spotlight--will score a touchdown.
