Synecdoche, New York

Genre: Comedy, Drama

Release Date: October 24

Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, Michelle Williams, Samantha Morton, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Emily Watson, Tom Noonan, Hope Davis

Scoop: Theater director Caden (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is mounting a new play. His life catering to suburban, blue-hairs at the local regional theater in Schenectady is looking bleak--from marriage to therapy to fatherhood to a fling--especially his health. Worried about the transience of his life, he leaves his home behind and gathers an ensemble cast in a NYC warehouse, hoping to create a work of brutal honesty. But the tangled lines of real vs. theatrical blurs.

If a Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words, We Say:  There nothing like the anxiety that sets in, when one is seized by the universal fact of our mortality. Who better than quietly simmering, angst-channeling  Philip Seymour Hoffman to team with Adaptation director/scribe Charlie Kaufman.

Snapshot Prediction: 4.5 out of 5 stars
