The Verdict: The inclusion of a trailer for 2009’s Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure tells you everything you need to know about this $50 million CG-animated spin-off. The intention of this bright, breezy Tinker Bell isn’t so much to reveal how the fairy earned her wings than to launch a new franchise for girls too young to idolize Hannah Montana. Not that this Tink resembles Peter Pan’s ill-tempered, overprotective fairy. Sure, she’s tenacious, but she’s just too nice. The problem lies partly with the casting of Whitman as her voice (yes, she speaks!). Her crisp, clean delivery saps away whatever spunkiness she’s supposed to possess.
