Cameron Crowe’s Singles explores life and love in Seattle during the grunge era. What opens this film up to both genders is a magnified look at complicated relationships coupled with a soundtrack that nearly eclipsed the movie in popularity. Crowe’s couples include the wannabe grunge rocker Cliff Poncier (Matt Dillon) and his groupie Janet Livermore (Bridget Fonda) as well as Linda Powell (Kyra Sedgewick) and her on again, off again boyfriend Steve Dunne (Campbell Scott).
