When Will We See It? Ang Lee was recently reported to be considering directing a screen version of the novel, which won the prestigious Man Booker Prize in England. At the moment, he no doubt has his hands full finishing Taking Woodstock, which opens this summer.
Unfilmable? While Pi is an acclaimed story, it’s not one that lends itself easily to adaptation. French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie) took a crack at it before abandoning the project; on the other hand, Lee succeeded where many failed when he turned Brokeback Mountain into a movie, so anything’s possible.
