The 2008 MTV Movie Awards were on fire today...literally. But the blaze burning on Universal’s back lot couldn’t extinguish the excitement on the red carpet above at the studio’s Gibson Theater.
Known as the most unpredictable awards presentation of the year, host Mike Myers didn’t disappoint and neither did the show. Between Seth Rogen and James Franco smoking pot on stage to a special performance by lifetime achievement award winner Adam Sandler, the laughs kept coming.
Hollywood.com hit up the sizzling scene for a chance to talk with the stars as they raced down the red carpet.

When it comes to the MTV Movie Awards, it’s all about the popular vote and this year’s nominees couldn’t be more tickled to have the support of their fans.
Nikki Blonsky, Breakthrough Performance nominee - Hairspray
On the excitement of being nominated: “It means a lot to me because I’m an MTV-aloholic. I love it and to be nominated for such an amazing award is phenomenal. It is so cool.”
Jon Favreau, Best Movie of the Summer winner – Iron Man
On the importance of the golden popcorn: “For a superhero movie this is as big as it gets. This isn’t a drama or a Christmas drama this isn’t one of those films that garner all of the accolades that the Hollywood upper crust give you. This is a movie for the fans and the fans vote online for these awards. This is a big deal for me, the MTV golden popcorn…So I am very happy to be here.”
