What We Think:
His appetite for destruction not fully sated by the epic carnage of films like Independence Day, Godzilla and The Day After Tomorrow, director Roland Emmerich unleashes the mother of all disaster films, in which the entire planet is pulverized by every natural disaster imaginable. The mysterious Mayan calendar, which some believe forecasts a December 2012 apocalypse, serves as Emmerich's inspiration for annihilation.
Among the diverse group of castmembers assembled to endure the unprecedented onslaught are Cusack, Peet, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover. Call it a hunch, but we’re guessing not all of them are going to survive.

This doomsday theory did not spring from a Mayan idea, but a Western one. Most Mayans insist that the world will not end in 2012
