What We Think:
After helping inspire the current 3-D movie trend with his motion capture Beowulf adaptation, Robert Zemeckis returns with another 3-D/mo-cap update on a literary classic, taking on Charles Dickens’ beloved tale of Ebenezer Scrooge’s redemption at the hands of three yuletide apparitions.
Zemekis tabbed Jim Carrey for the part of iconic old miser — as well as several other roles — no doubt in part because the Ace Ventura star, with his hyperactive mannerisms and famously expressive face, isn’t easily obscured by thick layers of CGI. We just hope this movie erases the memory of those creepy digital zombies from Polar Express.
Cool to Know:
In addition to the lead role of Scrooge, Carrey plays all three of the film's ghosts (Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come) as well.
