What We Think:
Hipster auteur Wes Anderson makes his first foray into animation with this stop-motion adaptation of Roald Dahl’s children’s novel, about a wily fox whose Robin Hood antics make him the target of three greedy farmers. Clooney and Streep join an all-star voice cast of Anderson regulars, including Murray, Wilson, Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody.
Anderson’s perfectionist style on the set of Fantastic Mr. Fox may not have endeared him to his co-workers, but it yielded two terrific trailers. There’s a message behind the fun, too: The idiosyncratic director has referred to the film as “anarchist” and “communist” in recent interviews.
Cool to Know:
Anderson had the actors record their dialogue outside of a studio and on location to make their performances more natural.
