Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson adapts Alice Seibold’s bestselling novel, a haunting supernatural tale about a murdered teen who watches over her grieving family and hunts her killer from beyond the grave. Wahlberg, Weisz, Stanley Tucci and Atonement star Ronan highlight the film’s all-star ensemble.
If the premise of The Lovely Bones sounds a tad bleak, don’t despair: Jackson and his team of visual effects technicians temper the often heartbreaking subject matter with some truly breathtaking images of the afterlife.
Cool to Know:
Ronan landed the role of Susie Salmon based on an audition tape. Her performance so impressed the film's producers that they offered her the role outright, without any further meetings or auditions.
