Finally, tonight, we get someone eons better than Shane West — like Anthony Edwards, a former doc worth seeing again. But … wha? Of course, the big-C killed off ol’ Dr. Greene seasons ago, but thank God for the art of a good flashback! When new chief Angela Bassett pushes to save a little girl from a near-drown, she falls into a daydream about back when she was a sassy ER-attending at USC (with long hair and bangs) and she had to admit her stroke-suffering young son to County General. She was all kinds of do-this, do-that’s to Dr. Greene, but then he sasses back, “LISTEN. I need you to be the mom now, OK. And I’m going to be the doctor. It works best that way.” Then, like a badass, he refuses to go upstairs for his chemo treatment. See, this could be you, George Clooney …
