DO IT TODAY: 'Frost/Nixon'

Frost/Nixon
(Friday, Dec. 5, 2008)

Betcha still need clarification on the whole Watergate thing, huh? Really, who was it that got former President Richard Nixon to muster up these words: “I let the American people down”? This movie, directed by Ron Howard, will explain everything. It introduces small-potatoes Brit broadcaster David Frost, played by Michael Sheen (The Queen), who by some miracle, gets Tricky Dick, played by Frank Langella (Dracula), to agree to a sit-down interview of multiple segments — post-scandal, post-resignation. Reprising their Broadway roles, Sheen and Langella will make you sweat and gasp as the two duke it out on live TV (and our big screen) that ultimately leads to a haggard Nixon sighing out his confession. (Even Kevin Bacon as his Chief of Staff can’t stop him.) Consider Oscar a BFF of Frost/Nixon, and particularly, Langella, who goes beyond an impersonation; he makes Nixon seem human.
