Gossip Girl, Introducing Brittany Snow as Young Lily Rhodes
(Monday, May 11, 2009)

The episode is titled "Valley Girls," and it's, in part, the pilot debut of the fall TV show of the same name — the afore-buzzed-about GG spinoff, featuring the young Lily Rhodes (Van Der Woodsen and Bass of the future) and her wild days in the '80s. Starring Brittany Snow, who perfected previous decades ('60s and '70s) in the Emmy-winning American Dreams of 2002, tonight's borrowed hour begins with lil' Lily getting kicked out of boarding school and escaping to Los Angeles (we assume somewhere in the Valley ...) where her parents (Andrew McCarthy and Cynthia Watros) and sister (Krysten Ritter) have been living happily — without Lily. Kelly Rutherford, the unflappable elder Lily, is mindful of always alluding to her checkered past, and what's circulating the Web as the official poster of Valley Girls — a neon-hued mug shot of Snow gettin' booked in 1983 clad in a terrific skirt — echoes the same rebellion. Present-day Upper East Side antics remain as Chuck derails Blair and Nate's prom date, and old Lily is dismayed with Serena's recent run-in with the law. But to get back to the past, we're giddy about Gwen Stefani and her No Doubt clan guest-starring as an '80s band called Snowed Out.

LAST FRIDAY'S DO-IT: Bosom bros Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal are back together!
