DO IT TODAY: Kelly Clarkson, 'All I Ever Wanted'

Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted

American Idol is submerged in an eighth season, having selected a Top 13 that some are calling "appalling." Well, to hell with the freshmen; let's divert our attention back to Season 1 alumni — and winner — Kelly Clarkson, whose post-sophomoric album is out today, and thankfully, it's more aligned with her near-perfect first release, Breakaway (2004), and less like the totally forgettable My December (2006). Bidding goodbye to her dark rebel self (because it wasn't believable nor lucrative), bright 'n' shiny Kelly is back with irresistible pop anthems. Her first single, "My Life Would Suck Without You," proves it. As do the feisty you-go-girl tunes, "Don't Let Me Stop You" and "I Do Not Hook Up," co-written by Katy Perry and new Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. Kelly also touts writing cred on six of the 14 tracks, which further proves that she's creepin' out of that cold "December" she's been stuck in for two years — with maturity, sass and, best of all, enhanced talent.
