Why We Liked It So Much: Heroes was a true graphic novel come to TV. It had style, danger … and something we rarely see in prime time: innovation. It really did fill you with the belief that heroes could save the world -- ordinary individuals like ourselves, who inexplicably developed superhuman abilities and banded together for the betterment of mankind. Well, OK, maybe scratch that last part, but it also had great villains.
Now, Not So Much: Everyone agreed the second season fell flat with rushed story lines, thanks to the writer’s strike and the departure of writer-producer Bryan Fuller, who went on to run Pushing Daisies. But hopes for the third season ran high. And while it started out fine, it’s developed into a muddle in which now there’s a third Nikki/Tracy twin, Sylar has become a good guy and half the time we even forget there’s a threat of Armageddon. Thanks, but no thanks.
What’s to Come: When Hayden Panettiere appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this past week and Degeneres asked the young actress who her favorite co-star was, she replied without even pausing, “Steve Carell!” DeGeneres politely pointed out that Carell isn’t on the show. Oops, Heroes isn’t even on her radar?
