Corey Haim and Corey Feldman hit the Hollywood scene head on, but the two didn’t cross paths until they were both cast in the 1987 classic Lost Boys at 14. "He’s suddenly showing up in all these teen magazines and stuff with his picture next to mine…I was like "Who is this guy trying to steal my thunder?" Feldman recalls. It was Haim who made the first move, calling his soon-to-be costar prior to shooting.

"He said ‘Hey, it’s Corey Haim. We’re going to be working together bro. This is great and I can’t wait to meet you. Let’s get together.’" You don’t really do that in Hollywood, you don’t really call each other before the film starts… I thought that was very respectful and gave me a level of admiration [for him] as well and really changed my perspective on things."

Right away the teens met up at the beach to toss around the football--and became fast friends. "He was like a little tiny energetic grandfather from the Munsters running around playing football with me on Venice Beach. We became brothers to the end…the day I met him," Haim reminisces.

From Lost Boys, the pair went on to star in six more films together including License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream, but when their careers took a downturn 10 years ago, fans were left wondering if they would ever see Haim and Feldman onscreen together again.

Now they’ve teamed up one more time to pioneer a new show on A&E called The Two Coreys, a show they say is a combination of reality and scripted television.

Back to Reality: "Basically over the last 10 years there have been a million different ideas thrown to Corey and I for different projects with potential for us to get back together and work together," Feldman says. They finally decided on a You, Me and Dupree premise starring themselves as well as Feldman’s wife Susie. "When they pitched it I said ‘Well, I won’t do it if it is a reality show,’ but we had an idea to do a sitcom that was similar that we had already been thinking of. So what we did is we merged those two ideas together. We thought let’s try to do something that is a bit pioneering and let’s try to blend those two worlds together and create a show that emulates the sitcom format but has real moments."

Roomies: This isn’t the first time the guys have tried living under one roof. They did more than stay in touch over the years they lived together too, crashing at each other’s pads during good times and bad. "I smelled that man’s funk," Haim says. "Living with Mr. Feldman is no pleasure let me tell you…I lived with him a few times when the tables turned. Definitely he stayed at my pad many times I’ve stayed at his pad many times. We’ve always crashed over and lived together wherever we’ve lived."

The Missus: Although Haim didn’t get to attend Feldman’s wedding, millions of fans did when he married Susie Sprague on the Surreal Life back in 2002. "This was kind of her first time jumping with both feet into a project that revolved around her being one of the main cast members she has done Surreal Life which was being on the show for our wedding episode and that was so far from what this is," Feldman says. "This actually required acting skills because she had to keep up with the two of us."

Death Threats: Despite the camaraderie in the house, Susie and Haim didn’t always get along. "The dynamic that you see on the show is very real. Corey is the single kind of sloppy guy that landed on the doorstep so to speak... she had to learn a great deal of patience in finding the balance between it all," Feldman says of his wife. Haim says the two liked to poke fun at each other and argue like brother and sister. "If we are at an autograph show or something and Corey and I are next to each other for like 12 hours…Susie and I will be writing each other funny death threats like "’Die! Die! Die! Love Susan Sprague Feldman.’ Or [I would write] ‘Die, die, die! I hope you die. Why did you steal my best friend? But I love you! Love, Corey Ian Haim.’ We do that stuff. We just get along she’s like my sister."

Lost Boys 2: One of the real moments on the show is when Feldman is offered a cameo role in Lost Boys 2 and Haim is not. "He breaks down and is crying…It is all 100 percent honest emotion and actually what was conveyed," Feldman says. Despite the set back they would both like the chance to be in the sequel. "If [Lost Boys 2] was done properly it is definitely something we would both love to do," Feldman confesses. "We’ve kind of said all along that if the studio decided to make it as a theatrical release and if it was done properly with the right production and the right director and all that sort of stuff then it is something that we would definitely do. At this point it hasn’t been done that way and they are continuing to pursue me for the role.

Family Guy: In 2004 the Feldmans welcomed a baby boy and Haim says his best friend couldn’t be a better dad. "I love nothing more than when I look over at him and we’re in the middle of a scene or setting up for some other thing we’ve created… and their filming…and he wants to stop for three seconds to go hug his baby. He’s just a really great father. And the baby is beautiful and his name is Zen. He’s not that Zenful sometimes…When he got to the talking age…He’s looking at me like ‘I want your spiked hair.’ So I’m in trouble already! I’m happy to be an uncle."

Settling Down: Haim may have learned a thing or two from the Feldmans, but none of it has influenced his outlook on marriage. "Nope! Absolutely not. Cut the umbilical, cut the umbilical (sings)…They are attached. They go everywhere together, they do everything . She’s his spy maybe. I’m not sure yet, I’m working on it," he jokes.

The Two Coreys premieres July 29 at 10/9c on A&E
