It's finally here! Find out what we thought of the Twilight Two-Disc Special Edition DVD. In stores Mar. 21 (or Friday, Mar. 20 at midnight).
In a nutshell … Twilight tells the story of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), a Phoenix teen who moves to Forks, Wash. to live with her dad. Soon she’s crushing on an elusive classmate named Edward (Robert Pattinson), only to get the brush off at every turn. When he finally opens up, she learns why – he’s not your typical 17-year-old; he’s a vampire.
Be sure to watch … the Deleted Scenes. It turns out some of the hottest encounters ended up on the cutting room floor. “That’s the first time I dreamt of Edward Cullen” has Bella and her vamp in a steamy bedroom scene, while “I love it when men chase me” has Victoria slamming James against a tree for a vampire lip lock. For a sweeter moment, check out “She’s brought him to life” with Esme and Carlisle. Mom and pop Cullen can’t help but feel romantic, after watching Edward whisk Bella out the bedroom window.
Take a trip down memory lane … with the Journey from Page to Screen. The hour-long documentary covers everything from author Stephenie Meyer's dream to extreme weather conditions to the extensive stunt work. Skip to “Vampire Baseball” and “The Final Word on the Final Battle” for a chance to see how director Catherine Hardwicke recreated these scenes without the use of green screen!
Find your inner-geek … with the Comic-Con Phenomenon clip. If you missed San Diego’s annual comic book convention last year, here’s your chance to see the panel without all the chaos of 6,000 fans. The best part is watching the two leads squirming in their chairs. While Stewart is noticeably quiet, at one point Pattinson gushes, “I just wanted to play [Edward] because he’s the hottest vampire in the world! He’s so hot it makes me hurt!”
If you have time … rock out to music videos from Muse, Paramore and Linkin Park or listen to the audio commentary by Hardwicke, Stewart and Pattinson.
You can skip … the extended scenes on the first disc. As Hardwicke explains straight away, these scenes were cut for a more “minimalist” approach. While there’s nothing wrong with lingering with Edward and Bella a little longer in the meadow during “You don’t know how it’s tortured me,” you won’t find any new information here. Kudos to Hardwicke for cutting these scenes down in the theatrical version.
